Rishikesh is the city situated in the Northern State of Uttarakhand in India. Rishikesh is one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in india. Rishikesh lies in the lap of the mighty Himalayas and circled from three sides by mountains. River Ganges touches the pilgrimage sie and passes from right side of the city.

According to the belief of the Hindu followers in 19th centaury AD, Shankaracharya, had a visit on this land. After the sage Raibhya rewarde for his sever self-abasement, a number of sages, rishies, munies visit this peaceful area for mediation and to performing penance. From the medieval periods this pilgrimage destination came to be known as the heavenly home. It is also said that the Brother of Lord Rama, Bharat too did penance here therefore the city came in to existence.

This holy town is located in the foot of the Himalayan ranges on the Tehri-Garhwal region. The area is elevated at a height of 356 meters above the sea. From here pilgrims can go to Haridwar too which is around 25 kilo meter away from Rishikesh. The weather of Rishikesh stays pleasant for the whole year, providing help people to approach the site in numbers.
