This wildlife park was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park to protech the Bengal Tigers.  Today, Corbett National Park expands over a huge area of around 1,318 sq km which is shelter to over 50 different species of mammals, 600 species of birds and 25 species of reptiles.Dense moist deciduous forest mainly consists of sal, haldu, peepal, rohini and mango trees. Forest covers almost 73% of the park, 10% of the area consists of grasslands.
